Dr. Josephine (Yi) Qiu is a Chinese expatriate from New Zealand and an accomplished musician with a profound foundation in artificial intelligence research. Currently, Dr. Qiu serves as a lecturer at Huzhou University. She began her academic journey in 2008 at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, completing her undergraduate courses in Electronic and Computer Engineering. In 2010, she obtained a Master's degree in the same field from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Dr. Qiu furthered pursed her studies at the University of Hong Kong, earning her Ph.D. in Optical Imaging in 2014. From 2014 to 2017, Dr. Qiu conducted postdoctoral research at the University of New Jersey, working as a research fellow.
In the realm of music, Dr. Qiu has been professionally trained in piano since childhood. She currently holds key positions in the Suzhou Gusu District Symphony Association, including Secretary-General and regular pianist for the association's orchestra. Dr. Qiu also performs with the Fengmu Chamber Orchestra at the Wuzhong District Cultural Center and previously served as a pianist and artistic director for the Victory Family Choir in Auckland, New Zealand.
As a young pianist, she has performed with multiple symphony orchestras, taking on roles as both pianist and artistic director. Dr. Qiu has participated in numerous large-scale symphony concerts at the municipal level and has performed solo piano pieces in major theaters such as the Suzhou Poly Grand Theatre and the Suzhou Yushan Lake Grand Theatre.
In recent years, Dr. Qiu has focused on the intersection of artificial intelligence and music. She collaborates closely with renowned universities, including the University of Auckland and Zhejiang University. Dr. Qiu's research in AI music has led to significant advancements in the field, making substantial contributions to the development and promotion of AI music technology.
